HoovenStrum School of Magic

The HoovenStrum School of Magic, which was named after Instrument Strums, one of Maradice Isle and the schools seven original founders, is the primary schooling and education system on the island. On top of teaching ponies about the ways of magic, even to Earth Ponies and Pegasi, the school also instructs about other general topics, such as English, algebra, history, and the like. The school itself has about 2,000 students every year, and because it's a combination of elementary, middle, Jr. high, high school, and college all in one, it's accessible by ponies of all ages and education levels.

Ponies can first enroll into the school at the age of 7, at which point they're put through the Personality Test, which tells them which of the seven schools of magic they belong in. This is important, as the school they end up belonging in not only has the spells they'll be most comfortable with taking into battle, it also defines what traits they'll have in later life. For example, if a Pony grows up as a Frost Pony, they'll have absurdly high physical health, able to withstand any hardship with the best of them. Likewise, if a Pony becomes an Ember Pony, they'll be more capable of withstanding the harsh heat of fire, and even being close to lava once they mature, making them ideal for jobs such as blacksmiths or miners.

The school itself houses a dormitory building for all students to live in while they're still in school. The dormitories are divided up into different sections for each of the schools age groups. The exact capacity of the dormitories is unknown, although the most students it's ever had at once is 2,876.

The school has several different age groups, all of which feature a different course.

    Novice ( Ages 7-9 )
    Intermediate ( Ages 10-12 )
    Adept ( Ages 13-15
    Magus ( Ages 16-18 )
    Master ( Ages 19-20 )

Ponies can graduate from the school at age 18, upon finishing the "Magus" course, but if they truly wish, they can undertake the schools "Master" course, which is much more difficult then even the Magus course, but provides students with a high degree scholarship if they manage to succeed.

The school uses a leveling system to monitor it's students progress. There are specific ranks tied to each set of levels, which ponies earn as their power increases.

    Notice ( Levels 1-4 )

    Apprentice ( Levels 5-9 )

    Intermediate ( Levels 10-14 )

Ponies can increase their level by studying hard and doing well in school, and battling enemies to train their skills and abilities.
