Once just a regular old mountain with no real purpose, this ancient landmark was turned into the islands resident volcano by Blazing Inferno, one of the islands original founding members, during the battle against STrange TIdings. Calling upon all of his energy, Blazing caused the once regular mountain to suddenly explode into a shower of molten rock and ash, in an effort to defeat Strange himself. Though his plan failed, the mountain was forever transformed into the volcano everypony now knows as Lava Mountain.

The initial eruption caused a number of large caverns to appear below the volcano's surface, which have since been turned into the Magma Mines when it was discovered that a rare and legendary mineral could be found here.

Blazing Inferno originally intended to return the volcano to it's regular state, that is to say, he wanted to make it a regular mountain again. However, shortly after Strange Tidings defeat, he fell ill and perished before he could do this, and as a result, the volcano is now permanently in a state of activity. Meaning, it's going to be active forever. Thankfully, Blazing had a feeling that something like this might happen, so he put a spell on the volcano to prevent it from erupting on it's own. The volcano will only erupt when an Ember seer equal to Blazing Inferno is able to trigger one.

The top of the volcano where the lava pool is located is GIGANTIC, about roughly the size of a baseball field! Seeing it at night is a pleasant sight for many who are able to make the hike to the volcano's summit.
