The Magma Mines is a series of caverns and caves located far below the surface of the planet directly below the volcano, Lava Mountain. They were created when Blazing Inferno, the original Ember Seer, caused the once regular mountain to explode with volcanic might.

The Magma Mines are particuarly famous because it is the ONLY place in the world where one can obtain what has come to be known as Powerite; A legendary mineral that is used to strengthen weapons and armor to practically indestructible levels. Items forged and infused with this legendary mineral are said to be much more powerful then that of mithril equipment, and are highly prized by those who own them.

The temperature of the air inside of the mines themselves can reach a sweltering three hundred degrees fahrenheit, and as such, special protection is required to even enter the mines. It has raised questions about how ponies can spent upwards of twelve hours a day, dipping melt-resistant nets into the magma in an effort to fish out the mineral, or working away at the cavern walls trying to find it.

While monster encounters are few and far between, one must be wary of any magma creatures that could be lurking in the magma. Luckily, guards are always on duty down here, ready and waiting to do battle with any vile creatures that wander within sight.
