DUELING ARENA

Normally, Maradice Isle does not allow conflict between ponies, out of fear for the lives of onlookers, as well as damage to nearby properties. However, those ponies who wish to duel one another, prey on the weak or cause trouble among the ranks may do so at the Saddleville Dueling Arena.

Located along the southernmost portion of the town, this arena features near indestructible architecture, and features a wide assortment of impenetrable protective forcefields surrounding the main arena itself, allowing onlookers to watch the battle without fear of being injured. Equally powerful spells prevent the arena from being damaged by any attacks, so ponies are free to use whatever sneaky tactics they can to defeat their foes.

The duels are all overseen by Duelmaster Dancing Blades, who acts as a referee of sorts for the duels. In the arena, his judgement is fair and final, and he will not hesitate to penalize anypony who dares break the rules of fair engagement.

Every once in a great while, a tournament is hosted at the arena, during which contestants can earn large sums of money, fame, and glory. These tournaments are open to all, and are usually attended by the strongest warriors in the world, meaning only the most powerful stand a chance to win.

All tournaments are designed using a "Round Robin" styled leaderboard, so everypony has an equal chance to face off with the other combatants and compete for the same amount of points. At the end of the tournament, the warrior with the most points wins.

There are three kinds of victories in a tournament, all of which are based off the winners remaining physical health ( HP ). They are:

CLOSE SHAVE

The winner had less then %15 of their max HP remaining, yet they somehow managed to win the battle.

Awards 1 point.

STANDARD VICTORY

The winner had anywhere between 15-90% of their HP left when they won.

Awards 2 points.

TOTAL BLOWOUT

The winner had more then 90% of their max HP left when they won the battle.

Awards 3 points.

NOTE: all point values are doubled if the winner manages to K.O. their opponent.

All battles in the arena have a 10-minute timer. Duelmaster Dancing Blades will automatically stop the match if both combatants are still standing when the time limit expires. Both warriors are then judged based on their remaining physical health and a winner is chosen.
